Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Product Engineer - Time Synchronization in Pullman, Washington

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) designs, manufactures, and integrates world-class products and solutions for use in critical infrastructure, making electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical. SEL is seeking a talented and motivated Product Engineer in the Precise Time product group within Research and Development (R&D). In this role, you will develop and support a portfolio of time synchronization products.

As a Product Application Engineer, a typical day may include the following:

  • Collaborating with cross-discipline engineers and managers to develop and prioritize roadmaps.

  • Specifying concepts and requirements for new products within R&D that exceed market needs and customer expectations.

  • Performing system-level validation and interoperability testing. Providing technical product support to internal and external customers.

  • Attending and presenting at industry tradeshows, conferences, and standards committees.

  • Analyzing competitor products and curating technical comparison reports.

  • Developing application notes and white papers outlining best practices.

  • Preparing customer-facing product documentation including datasheets, marketing/sales material, instruction manuals, release notes, and service bulletins.

    This job may be a good fit if you…

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related field of study.

  • Have experience with time synchronization practices, which may include position, navigation, and timing (PNT) technologies (GNSS, GPS, etc.), various types of oscillators (TCXO, OCXO, etc.) and protocols such as PTP (IEEE 1588), NTP (RFC 5905) and IRIG-B.

  • Are knowledgeable in networking and/or telecommunications systems.

  • Enjoy working with customers to understand and solve their challenges with creative solutions.

  • Command strong writing, speaking and presentation skills.

  • Relish rapidly learning new skills, assuming new responsibilities and working cooperatively.

  • Can travel up to 25%.

    Pay Range Data

    We anticipate filling this position as a Product Engineer $70,000 - $108,00. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
